"The first step towards change is awareness. The second step is acceptance."

~ Nathaniel Branden

In this episode, I talked about our, MYB Life Assessment, the purpose of this tool, and how to best use the results.  Before we dive in, let me share a story with you. I use to be a Gig worker, delivering packages, groceries, and your favorite meal from the restaurant on the other side of town.  I never knew where my assignment would lead me but I was completely confident that I would make it from  Point A to Point B because I was using GPS.  But don’t get me wrong, there were many times I would encounter some unexpected roadblocks, traffic, or detours, and due to that, the GPS had to recalculate the route. It made me think about how life is similar to a road trip. Sometimes, we encounter unexpected roadblocks, but we must keep in mind the destination, let our trip plan guide us, and keep moving forward.

The MYB Life Assessment is your Point A, your current position in life.  Your desired outcome is Point B, your vision for your life. The journey of personal development and growth is the turn-by-turn direction, that helps you reach your destination. I have reflected on my life many times.  Sometimes it was because it was a new year.  Sometimes it was because I was inspired by someone or something to do better. And other times, it was due to something I had no direct control like a major life change, tragedy or something bad would happen if I didn’t assess myself, assess the situation and do something about it.

I’m just like you, I get pretty uncomfortable when I’m not progressing. One of my very first Personal Development mentors was Tony Robbins. He regularly states that "progress equals happiness," which simply implies that we are happiest—and possibly most happy—when we are making progress toward our objectives and experiencing personal growth. To keep progressing and getting closer to our desired outcomes it can mean we will have to step outside of our comfort zones.  This brings me to my point, taking a close look at your life may be a little or even extremely uncomfortable.  Believe me, I understand, I have been there many times as I previously stated.  Looking back will reveal some things that you’re proud of and not so proud of, it will expose the mistakes you made, and who wants to relive that? It will bring up regret for the things you didn’t do and hopefully reveal to you what stopped you.  If you don’t get all of that at first, don’t worry you may not have disappointment, regrets, or mistakes.  But rest assured, the more you work at your life the clearer thing become and clarity is powerful. I advise that you do this as many times as you feel the need to, letting you see what needs to be done and the progress you’ve made in that category or many categories.  It will help you recalculate your route.  It happens at every level on multiple layers.  You are not alone.  It is worth it, you are worth it!  Let’s do it.

Part 1: Taking the MYB Life Assessment

You can get access to the Assessment and course inside the MYB Community click here to join. The MYBeginning Course is found in the Courses section. The assessment consists of the Mind Your Business Lifestyle categories that are scaled from 1 to 10 with 1 representing dissatisfaction and 10 representing complete satisfaction.  It's important to give each question deep thought, be honest and reflective when answering. There are no right or wrong answers, just your current reality, your truth. Once you've completed the assessment, you'll receive a copy of your results in the email that you provided.

Part 2: The Five D Philosophy

Now that you have your scores for each category, it is essential to take each category through the Five D Philosophy. The Five Ds are Decide, Discover, Develop, Deliver, and Dominate. First, decide on what you want to improve in that category and why. Then, discover what you need to do to improve. Next, develop a plan and take action. After that, deliver on your plan and finally, dominate the category.

Part 3: Improving your scores

If you'd like to improve your scores in any category, we've compiled a list of suggested books and videos for each category, that you can read or watch to gain insight and learn techniques or strategies you can take action on today. Remember, it's essential to set goals and create a personal growth plan to achieve them.

Part 4: Seeing the full picture

The MYB Life Assessment is your starting point which is needed in order to create a full map, a sense of direction or a 30,000 foot view of your life. Forcing you to bring conscious attention to every area.  It allows you to see the full picture of those categories and how they are interconnected. This view will be helpful when writing out your life vision and creating a personal growth plan.

Remember, the MYB Life Assessment is just the starting point. It is your plan, goals, and habits you establish that will become your turn-by-turn navigation that helps you reach your destination. Use the Five D Philosophy to help you create a personal growth plan to achieve your vision for your life and become the Asset they were designed to be.
