Welcome back to The Mind Your Business Mentor Podcast, where we provide Aspiring Entrepreneurs with valuable insights and strategies to help them live their best life. In this episode, we will be discussing the Five D Philosophy for Entrepreneurs and how it can help you achieve success in the business world. We will ask the question of the year, “Why do You want to be an Entrepreneur?"

Before we dive into the Five D Philosophy, let's first ask ourselves why we want to be entrepreneurs. Is it because we want more freedom, more flexibility, or more control over our lives? Is it because we have a passion or an idea that we want to turn into a business? Whatever the reason, it's important to have a clear understanding of why we want to be entrepreneurs before we embark on this journey.

Entrepreneurship is an exciting and challenging journey that requires a strong commitment to your goals and a willingness to take risks. To become a successful entrepreneur, you need to have a clear understanding of what an entrepreneur is and why you want to be one.

What is an Entrepreneur?

An entrepreneur is an individual who creates, operates, and assumes the risks of a business venture in order to make a profit. They are innovative, creative, and driven individuals who use their ideas, resources, and skills to start and grow new businesses. Entrepreneurs take on a wide range of roles in their businesses, from developing new products and services to managing day-to-day operations and securing funding for growth. They are willing to take calculated risks and adapt to changing circumstances in order to achieve success. Successful entrepreneurs possess a combination of qualities such as creativity, leadership, strategic thinking, passion, vision, and persistence. They play a critical role in driving innovation, creating jobs, and contributing to their local and personal economy.

How can the Five D Philosophy Help?

It can help you identify and prioritize your motivations. The Philosophy consists of Decide, Discover, Develop, Deliver, and Dominate. Each of these elements is essential for success in entrepreneurship.

The first step is to Decide. This means making the conscious choice to become an entrepreneur and committing to the journey ahead. It's important to have a clear vision of what you want to achieve and why. Think of it as reverse engineering, or as the 3rd habit of the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: “Begin with the end in mind” or the Executive Summary of a Business Plan. That’s the big picture! Another decision you will have to make is “What problem do you want to solve?” Answering these questions is an excellent start.

Next is Discover. This step involves researching, but before you start researching markets, industries, target audiences, and understanding your competition, I want you to research Yourself. Do have the characteristics that I mentioned in the definition of an Entrepreneur? Or at least have the desire to develop the characteristics that will make an entrepreneur successful? It's important to gather as much information as possible before moving forward.

The third step is Develop. This involves creating a plan of action, setting goals, and establishing a roadmap for your business or as I referred to in Ep 3, your GPS. I use that metaphor in so many examples, I love GPS, seriously. In the development stage, it's important to be realistic and flexible in your approach and to have contingency plans in case things don't go according to plan. And let me tell you now, things will not go according to plan. Just go with it, you got this! Another thing I’d like for you to think about is developing systems. Don’t forget my tagline which is also my own personal business Vision, which is to build a life and not just a Business. If you don’t build systems, the business will always require that you be around in order to run or function, which can lead you to the typical situation where the business owns you instead of you owning the business. That’s an episode by itself….stay tuned

Once you've developed your plan, it's time to Deliver. This step involves executing your plan, rolling up your sleeves and getting dirty. You are launching your business, and delivering your product or service to your target audience. It's important to stay focused and disciplined during this phase and to be willing to make adjustments along the way.

Finally, the last step is Dominate. This step involves scaling your business, expanding your reach, and becoming a leader in your industry. It's important to stay hungry, innovative, and motivated in order to continue learning and growing as an entrepreneur.

Becoming a successful entrepreneur requires a strong commitment to your goals, a willingness to take risks, and a deep understanding of why you want to be one. The Five D Philosophy for Entrepreneurs can help you develop the essential traits necessary for success in entrepreneurship. By cultivating a strong conviction to decide, discover, develop, deliver, and dominate, you can overcome obstacles and manifest what you dream about at night and If you’re like me and during the day. So, ask yourself, why do you want to be an entrepreneur?  When you have answered that question and started taking action, you will have 1 of the 12 MYB Lifestyle categories taken care of.  Leave your answer in the comment, I’d love to hear them.
